For many patients, accessing health care is a very complex, frustrating experience. The MCS will help insureds every step of the way when seeking medical care. Early notification to the MCS is the key to maximum effectiveness.
Once insureds are notified that a non-emergency medical procedure is necessary, they should contact the MCS to provide basic demographic and medical information. The MCS will contact the patient’s doctor for clinical information, research the procedure in question, and then provide insureds with a report detailing cost and quality information for the specific procedure at nearby hospitals. Additionally, the MCS can provide the names of providers that perform the procedure at the facility the insureds chosen. The MCS is also available to help schedule appointments, and whenever possible, negotiate even more cost-effective fees.
